During Seth and Ken’s 2008 trip to Germany, they spoke with a number of historians from the Schoen family’s hometown of Vacha. These historians had recorded not just the history of the town, but of its Jewish people, who were now gone. Inge Wimmer was one of those historians. Here is an audio interview Ken conducted with Inge regarding Vacha, its history, the Schoen family’s life there, and the Shoah. Parts of the audio are in German, but mostly in English.
Olaf Ditzel, a colleague of Inge’s, received the 2002 Obermayer German Jewish History Award for his work alongside Mrs. Wimmer and fellow Vacha historian Günter Hermes.
